JukeBox 5 Potential Data Loss
There was code added to version 126.96.36.199 and later that was intended to increase the field size of some of the text items. Unfortunately this code can in rare cases cause some fields to be lost from the record database files, including the B Side Artist, Location, Value, Cost and other fields.
To determine the version of the JukeBox program you have click on the Help | About menu option.
What Should You Do?
If you have moved to JukeBox 6 and are no longer running JukeBox 5 then you do not need to do anything.
If you have version 188.8.131.52 and never updated to a later version of JukeBox 5 then you do not need to do anything.
If you have version 184.108.40.206 or later then you should do the following:
- If you haven't already done so, make a backup of your data files. Do NOT use the current JukeBox 5 program's backup function but make a manual copy of your data. Manually copy all the files in the Data folder under the JukeBox installed location ( by default that would be C:\JB5\Data) and put them in a new folder on a different device than your hard drive.
- Download the modified JukeBox program file (link below) and place it in your JukeBox installed location. By default this would be C:\JB5. This version of JukeBox designated as 220.127.116.11 does NOT have the code that could potentially create the data loss problem.
Depending on your browser you may get a warning that this kind of file can harm your computer. There should be a way to override this warning. If you are reading this page then you have been using our JukeBox program and should feel confident that we are not putting out a dangerous product.
Once you have the modified file in place you can and should backup your data with the Backup function. Always backup your data!
